1
In a small bowl, add ¾ cup cold water. Sprinkle entire contents of gelatin packet over water and gently mix with a fork until gelatin is completely saturated. Set aside for at least 5 minutes to allow gelatin to bloom.
2
In a medium saucepan, add 1/4 cup hot water and the contents of gummy mix packet. Turn heat to low or medium-low and bring the mixture to a slow simmer, stirring frequently until smooth and lump-free. While it simmers, use a wet pastry brush to gently wash down the sides of the pan and dissolve any sugar crystals.
3
Remove the pan from heat. Once the mixture has stopped boiling, add the bloomed gelatin and stir until fully dissolved. Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes, then use a large spoon to remove and discard any foam from the surface.
4
Stir in 1 to 1-1/2 teaspoons LorAnn Super-Strength Flavor. Add food coloring as desired.
5
Use a dropper or squeeze bottle to fill the gummy candy molds. Let the gummies set at room temperature for about 1 hour, or until firm.
6
Carefully remove the gummies from the molds and allow them to air-dry at room temperature, uncovered, for at least 6 hours. Once fully dried, store your homemade gummies in an airtight container.
HELPFUL TIPS:
• Patience pays off when mixing. Stir gelatin gently to avoid introducing excess air, which can create bubbles and result in cloudy or uneven gummies.
• If the mixture begins to harden before you’ve filled all the molds, simply return it to low heat until it becomes pourable again.
• For easy clean-up, soak your pan and utensils in hot, soapy water. The gummy mixture will melt away with minimal scrubbing.
